Finding the Right Business Internship for Our Students' Professional Development

Qii/T has recently partnered with Australian Internships (AI), which is a specialist organization committed to providing international and Australian students and graduates with training, work experience and cultural exchange, in an international business environment.

AI annually provides internship programs and services to approximately 1,000 international participants wishing to gain professional work experience aligned to their academic studies or profession in Australia.

The Australian Internships Program has been approved by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for a number of visa subclasses, including the student visa. For further information, please see http://www.internships.com.au/services/visa-options/

The following internship programs are currently available:

Professional Internship Program: Non-paid training positions available Australia wide in a wide range of disciplines. Positions are individualised to meet candidates’ career objectives and range in duration from 6 – 26 weeks. See http://www.internships.com.au/programs/professional-internship/

Stipend Internship Program: Successful applicants receive a monthly allowance of $600-900 AUD, paid to cover travel and meal expenses. Relevant work experience related to area of study is required in Business, Human Resources, Information Technology and Marketing fields. Internship duration ranges from 20-26 weeks. Hospitality Internship Program: Paid training positions available Australia-wide within the Hospitality sector. Suitable for candidates with hospitality backgrounds. Positions are individualised to meet the candidates’ career objectives. Positions are available in Food and Beverage, Front Office and Culinary. Duration ranges from 6 – 12 months. Professional Year Program: Designed in conjunction with DHA and varous industry associations, the program offers former international students in Australia an introduction to their respective occupation, and relevant practical training. Positions are available in Accounting, IT and Engineering. Candidates complete a classroom-based component focusing on communication and business acumen, followed by a 12 -16 week internship.
